Dental Implant FAQs

Here you can find answers to our most commonly asked questions. If you have any further questions or can’t find the answer you’re looking for, please contact us and we’ll make sure you get the information you need to make a confident decision about your dental health!

Who is a good candidate for implants?

Good candidates have healthy gums, enough jawbone, and overall good oral health. During your comprehensive exam, we will determine if you’re a good candidate or if additional treatment like bone grafting is needed.

Are dental implants painful?

Most patients report minimal discomfort during the procedure. We use local anesthesia to make you comfortable and any post-procedure soreness can be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers.

How long does the procedure take?

The time frame varies from patient to patient. The procedure is in two stages: placing the implant and attaching the crown. The healing time between the two stages can be a few weeks to several months.

What are implants made of?

Implants are made of titanium, a biocompatible material that integrates with your natural bone. The crown attached to the implant is usually made of porcelain or ceramic which looks and functions like natural teeth.

How do I take care of my implants?

Caring for implants is similar to caring for natural teeth. Brush, floss, and regular dental checkups are essential to keep your gums and implants healthy.
